What Does It Take To Fall In Love? Our biggest dreams in life usually include wanting to fall in love. We look for love that is true and long lasting. What does it take to fall in love with someone? How can it become a "forever love?" Some of the same relationship components that are present in dating, in friendship and even in families can give us insight into how we can fall in love with Jesus forever. The initial attraction, the ongoing commitment and the interaction of human relationships can start to waiver and fade especially in dating relationships. Although many of us want to fall in love and have it last forever, people can let us down and easily disappoint us. However, if you really seek Jesus and pursue Him with your whole heart, His love will never fail you. He will never let you down. Love relationships with Jesus only gets better and better. His perfect character always backs it. It's our commitment and initiative that fall short in our love relationship with Jesus. He is always there to forgive, to comfort and to love us unconditionally. Faithful promises that we make and keep are pillars of commitment that help sustain a lifelong devotion for Jesus. It's a love that will always keep growing as long as we keep walking in His ways. – Dave DavidsonOne of the underlying themes of the Bible is a metaphor that presents Christ as a groom and His church as a bride. In heaven, Christ and His church will come together in a wedding banquet and feast to celebrate a reunion of love and commitment for eternity. Proposal - Christ has already given His "wedding" proposal to each and everyone of us. He came to earth, died for our sins and was resurrected and is now in heaven. His invitation is simple… "Will you be united with Me in perfect love forever?" God invites each one of us to become a part of His kingdom. He has already revealed His wedding vows in His Word as part of godly promises and covenants. Engagement - Perhaps you are only engaged to Christ with a tentative commitment for the future. "Yeah, maybe in a couple of years we'll get together, Jesus." The Holy Spirit continues to give you the invitation from Christ to become one with Him, but we often keep pushing back the wedding date because we're not ready to fully commit. Move up the wedding date to today! Wedding - It's time to say I do, I will to Jesus. Just as God has given us His promises, there are foundational promises and vows that we can commit to today to become one with the Lord. First, we need to accept His proposal and say, "I do." Once you commit to Christ, it's time for the wedding vows to be lived out the rest of your life here on earth. The secret to falling in love with Jesus forever is to honor Him fearfully, keeping His promises faithfully. Don't be late for your own wedding day! If you don't make it to the church on time, you won’t be able to attend the wedding banquet and feast Jesus is planning for you in heaven. – Dan Davidson | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
