Reflections From An X-Teen

I think we get really wrapped up in thinking that we understand things and that we have things figured out. We really have no idea what’s going on and once we realize it, there’s no reason to strive and no reason to try to live up to something we are not.

His affection for us hasn’t changed and doesn’t change when we’ve screwed up and when we’ve stopped working so hard for His affection.

God is still just as in love with us because it’s a fact of His character and not a factor of our worthiness. I think that there’s just so much freedom in discovering God’s faithfulness and unconditional love.

So, that’s my piece of advise, just to recognize that you can’t do anything to make Him love you more and you can’t attain some greater vast knowledge or bigger amount of God’s pleasure because it’s there and you’re really not going to do it. I mean you can’t. You cannot make Him love you more so stop trying and start accepting the maximum today. – Jill Van Wyk
