P R O M O T I O N Congratulations! You are up for a promotion. You will be especially excited to hear who is offering you this promotion. It is God Himself. We are all born with what the Bible describes as "original sin." We can try to do "good things" but it will never be enough to get to heaven. We need to be promoted to God’s kingdom with a new, purified heart. God has already arranged the promotion papers for us through His Son. Jesus died on a cross to pay the penalty of our sins because He loves us unconditionally. He was then miraculously resurrected and lives now with God in heaven. The 8 P.R.O.M.I.S.E.S. that are presented in this book are heart-changing and can help shape the course of your life forever, but you won’t have the power to follow them without being promoted or saved into God’s kingdom. God’s love is for everyone. The gospel message is simple. If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Savior, please read "From Here to Heaven" in the appendix. If you have already been promoted into heaven by the Creator of the universe, let’s move on to God’s purpose for your life. P U R P O S E God has a special purpose for everyone. Each person is unique . . . there is no one on the face of the earth just like you. God has given you a combination of special abilities, gifts and insights that no one else has ever possessed since the beginning of time. You might have heard that no two snowflakes are identical. That is because God creates only originals. You are certainly more important than a snowflake. The Bible tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God Himself. The more you speak to God in prayer and get to know Him by reading His Word, the more you will learn of His unique purpose for your life. One thing is for certain… God’s primary purpose in your life is to have a loving relationship with you. P O W E R Imagine yourself as a NASCAR race driver who owns one of the finest racing cars available. You also have a top-notch mechanical crew to fix and adjust any problems that might occur to your vehicle. Even with all that, you would sit still at the starting line without power or energy. In the race of life, the only way to get beyond the starting line is to tap into God’s power in our lives. Let’s quickly review the Trinity . . . the three-in-one God . . . God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. God the Father created the universe and He created us. He made many promises to His people who believe and follow Him. God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die for our sins. Jesus was raised from the dead and now is with God the Father at the right side of His throne in heaven. Jesus told us that He would send the Holy Spirit to teach, guide, counsel and empower us until His second return to earth. The Holy Spirit is the power cell of our godly walk in life today. When we stay in fellowship with God, He continually ministers to us through the Holy Spirit. Through prayer, reading of His Word and faithful obedience we are continually recharged with the power of the Holy Spirit. It is only with this divine power we can even begin to make and keep the 8 Powerful P.R.O.M.I.S.E.S. outlined in this book. Stay plugged into your power source. God’s power is unlimited and He wants to share it with you today. P R O M I S E S God made a covenant or promise with Abraham to bless all nations through his descendants. God has given us many additional promises of blessings in His Word when we are obedient to His will and His ways. His promise is a gift of eternal life to anyone who calls upon the name of His Son, Jesus. He has promised never to leave us or forsake us. God Himself is the ultimate promise keeper. He makes promises on account of His immeasurable love for us and always keeps them because of His perfect nature. We can show our love to God by keeping some promises of our own outlined in His Word. You've been promoted to God's kingdom. The promises are not for the weak or fainthearted, nor are they easy. Remember that you will need to draw daily upon the power and strength of God to be able to keep these promises. Make a commitment to keep these promises not just because you have to … do it because you honor and fear God and you want to fall in love with Jesus forever. The promises you keep, will be the life you reap. P R I Z E S God is so awesome! He loves to bless and surprise His children. He has planned some incredible bonus prizes for us here on earth and in heaven. Someday there will be a judgment day. God will measure our lives to determine our heavenly rewards. It will be like a test of fire where all the sin, and every worthless thought and deed will be burned up like wood, hay and straw. All our godly actions, pure thoughts and promises kept will survive like gold, silver and precious stones. Then He will give out His heavenly prizes! God has even promised us a "crown of righteousness" if we persevere during times of trial. He says to "count it all joy" because it is a testing of our faith. God is ready to bless us with the rich rewards of abundant life on earth and an eternity of joy and fellowship with Him in heaven. As you believe in Him, follow His commandments and keep these promises, remember to keep your eyes on God's prize. - Dan Davidson
