 We can be prosperous and successful from God’s word.

With all the self-help and business books on the market today about success where does one turn for the final authentic authority?  Today’s date (1:8) in the American calendar matches a some great advice (Joshua 1:8).

There is no better method for being prosperous and successful than to consult with your Creator.  In fact He urges you to read his word which guarantees that you will be prosperous and successful if you:

Do not let it depart from you. – Then you will walking with God in fellowship. Meditate on it day and night. – As Isaiah 26:3 also confirms that a mind is in perfect peace who focuses on God’s word. 

It is no accident that the book of Joshua begins with the advice about keeping in god’s word.  When my wife and I named our second son Joshua, I definitely had Joshua 1:8 in mind.  I wanted him to also anchor his life on this verse. Dave Davidson

Falling from God would not happen if you were convinced of our calling and lived it.

In missions and in life it is so important to know our calling.  In the movie “City Slickers” the New York want-to-be cowboys are vacationing at a ranch out west.  When they get caught of in a speedy stampede and can barely stay on their horses one character says “I don’t know where we are going, but we are making good time.” 

Whether you are on the mission field, a sender or a prayer partner the question is… Have you taken the time for God to search your heart out and give you direction, vision and your calling? 

Of course this is a process and many times when we seek God’s will he answers maybe.  George Sweeting said, “It is easier to mover a moving car than a parked one.”  It is also easier for God to direct you and reveal his calling to you if you take initiative to ask Him and to getting moving in direction you feel He is leading. 

Sometimes it seems God is preparing us for a greater work and testing our faith.  Just ask the apostle Paul about his missionary journeys.  Many of His trips seem illogical to any modern day planner, yet God had some type of training program for him.  Dave Davidson
