TREE 1 Peter 2:24 &
Isaiah 53:6 He himself bore our sins in his body
on the tree, so that we might die to
sins and live for righteousness; by
his wounds you have been healed.
This is truly a great
verse that matches the message of the movie, "The Passion of the
Christ."
BRING
1 Peter 3:14 1 Corinthians 15:22 Romans 5:8 For Christ died for sins
once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He
was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, For as in
Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But God demonstrates
his own love Christ died for us.
FORGIVINGDaniel 9:9, 2:20 The Lord our God is
merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; Praise
be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.
ETERNAL John 3:16 For God so loved the world that
he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.
"Making
this film has been the most difficult thing I've ever done, and watching
it is not easy to do. It's difficult, because Christ's Passion was
difficult. But in watching it, I've found it's actually purged me. It
somehow heals me to watch it. It's a strange thing. I've never
experienced a film like it."
Mel Gibson
"It's dangerous material.
You're talking about the single event that... influenced civilization as
we know it now.... It's affected every possible aspect of anyone's life,
whether they know it or not... this is big stuff you're dealing with."
Mel Gibson
"My aim is to profoundly
change people... The audience has to experience the harsh reality to
understand it. But when you finally see it and understand what He went
through, it makes you feel not only compassion, but also a debt. You
want to repay Him for the enormity of His sacrifice."
Mel Gibson
"This is a movie about love, hope, faith,
and forgiveness.
He [Jesus] died for all mankind, suffered for all of us.
It's time to get back to that basic message. The world has gone nuts.
We could all use a little more love, faith, hope, and forgiveness."

moon shines on the garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus (Jim Caviezel)
agonizes in prayer about the events he is preparing to face. Just a
few feet away, three of his disciples, Peter (Francesco De Vito),
James (Hafed Khalifa) and John (Hristo Jivkov), try to stay awake to
keep watch. At that same hour in the temple courtyard, another
disciple, Judas Iscariot (Luca Lionello), meets with the high priest
Caiaphas (Mattia Sbragia) and members of the Sanhedrin, to betray
Christ in exchange for 30 pieces of silver. Judas then leads a
procession of guards to Gethsemane to arrest Jesus and bring him
before certain temple leaders for questioning. As the disciples
quickly scatter for fear of being recognized, John rushes to the
home of Jesus to alert his mother Mary (Maia Morgenstern) and Jesus’
follower Mary Magdalene (Monica Bellucci).
The three proceed to the courtyard where they meet up with Peter and
all observe Jesus being falsely accused by various religious leaders
of the Sanhedrin. When Judas sees what his betrayal has done to
Jesus, he’s filled with guilt and attempts to return the silver to
Caiaphas, who refuses it. Tormented by his actions, Judas is driven
by demons to the edge of the city where he hangs himself on a tree.
As night passes into day, the religious leaders take Jesus before
Pontius Pilate (Hristo Naumov Shopov) and demand that he be
punished. Wishing to avoid the growing controversy and the concerns
of his wife, Pilate sends Jesus to King Herod (Luca De Dominicis).
When Herod finds no fault with Jesus, he sends him back to Pilate.
In an effort to rid himself of the problem, Pilate reminds the
people that every year he lets a prisoner go free. He offers to free
Jesus, but the crowd demands the release of the murderous criminal
Barabbas instead. Pilate then has Jesus brutally scourged, after
which he offers to release Jesus again. The crowd, however, asks
Pilate to have him crucified, and after washing his hands as a
symbol of being “innocent of this man’s blood,” he turns Jesus over
to the guards to be crucified. Although his body is racked with pain
and he can barely stand, Jesus is made to carry his cross on the
road to Golgotha, a hill for crucifixion outside the city walls.
Along the via cruces (way of the cross) leading to Golgotha, Jesus
falls many times as he faces both the violence and the sympathy of
the mob. He is comforted by encounters with his mother, a Jewish
bystander who helps him carry the cross, and a young mother who
wipes the blood from his face, in stark contrast to the brutality of
the Roman soldiers.
Once top the hill, Jesus is nailed to the cross, crucified between
two other criminals. After a long agony, and his famous prayer,
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,” he completes
his sacrifice and commends his soul to God.
His death is
followed by signs of power over the elements, and a glimpse of his
power over death.
““The Passion is the finest presentation of the last hours of Jesus’ life
I have ever seen.” Tim LaHaye
The Passion is a forthright, compassionate, evenhanded presentation of
the historic
facts of the trial, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus
of Nazareth.” Jack W. Hayford
“I have no doubt that the movie will be one of the greatest evangelistic
tools in modern day history.” Ed Young Jr.
The Passion will stun audiences
and create an incredible appetite for people to know more about Jesus.” Lee Strobel
“Brilliant, biblical– a masterpiece.” Rick Warren
“A film that must be seen - although the graphic scenes of the scourging
of Jesus are emotionally wrenching.” James Dobson
